Recently, our office received numerous phone inquiries from brothers and sisters about ‘how to register for the Gospel For China 2007 Conference(GFCC2007)?’. By the Lord’s grace and the faithful service of co-workers, the conference planning has progressed smoothly. Below are some Q&As regarding the GFCC2007:
What is the theme of the Gospel For China 2007 Conference? Any special meaning for this Conference?
We can say the theme of the Conference is the meaning of the Conference. For the 2007 Conference, the theme will remain “ Jesus Christ and Him Crucified”. We believe the Cross is the Center of the Christian Faith and the core of the Gospel Truth – this is the most needed message for today’s churches. With God’s grace, Christian Life Quarterly had organized several conferences in the past several years – the “Overseas Chinese Christians’ Conference At The Turn Of The Century”, “Gospel For China 2003 Conference”, and “Gospel For China 2006 Conference”. The purpose of each of the conferences was to call for the return of churches to the full gospel truth that is based on ‘Jesus Christ and Him Crucified.” The messages that were delivered during the past three conferences have produced positive influence to the churches in North America as well as in China. We believe the Lord will continue to use this message from GFCC2007 to bring blessings to our churches. Further, 2007 is the 200 years anniversary of the arrival of New Christianity to China. The Conference hopes to deliver a message that ‘ Chinese churches as a whole need to march onto the world mission platform and join the global mission movement in the 21st Century’.
The 2007 Conference will be an international meeting. The Conference will open to all the Chinese Christians around the world, as well as all the Christian organizations and churches that have burden for China. The Conference speakers will include Dr. Don Carson from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Chicago, Brother Samuel Lamb, Brother Joseph Li, and other preachers. Please update us on the planning of the Conference?
Planning a conference in Hong Kong is very different from planning a conference in Chicago. It is indeed a challenge for our co-workers. Thanks to the Lord who prepared for us Rev. Joseph Lee, the Executive Director of ‘The Ark Limited’ in Hong Kong, as the Executive Director for the planning of GFCC2007. Rev. Lee, together with several of our co-workers, have basically resolved the issues for the meeting site, hotels, meals, and transportation.
The Conference will be held at the Asia-World Expo near the Hong Kong International Airport, from the evening of December 26 to the evening of December 29. Due to limitations such as conference site, the 2007 Conference will not do Children program or evangelical meeting. That is why we will not accept application from seekers at GFCC2007. The Conference is only suitable for Christians that are over 18 of age to attend.
How to register for the Conference?
Registration will be accepted at both the headquarter office in Chicago and the Hong Kong office for GFCC2007. Those attendees that are outside of North America can register with the Hong Kong office(see registration form). Conference fees can be paid in either US or HK dollars (only US dollars are accepted for registration with the US office). Attendees need to carefully fill out the application form, and pay for all the conference fees before registration is complete. Once the application is accepted, the GFCC2007 office will notify you by email or mail.
The Conference will try our best to arrange rooms for attendees. Because of the heavy workload, we highly encourage brothers and sisters to find your own roommate (2 persons per room), and register together. Due to limited number of available hotel rooms, we encourage brothers and sisters to register early to ensure a room is secured.
What about the Conference financial needs?
Hong Kong is an international city. The costs of organizing a conference and hotel rooms are much more expensive in Hong Kong than North America. Just renting the conference meeting site and audio-visual set up will require a large expense. We respectfully ask brothers and sisters to pray for and support the Conference financial needs.
Despite the high cost of hotels in Hong Kong, our workers have been able to secure a relatively reasonable price for the hotels. For example, they have been able to negotiate a room for about $93.5 per day, including taxes, at the Hong Kong Regal Airport Hotel, versus a normal rate of $160 per night. The other hotel at $56 per night is comparable to the hotel rate for the 2006 Conference in Chicago.
How can we serve at the ‘Gospel For China 2007 Conference’?
- Please pray for the Conference. We know the planning of the Conference is itself a spiritual war. We hope to form an effective prayer net with churches and brothers and sisters to pray for the conference planning, the theme, the speakers, the volunteers, and the brothers and sisters that will come from around the world. We also pray for a good external environment for the conference. May our Lord in the highest govern the whole planning process. And may all glory to our Lord and the Lamb on the throne in heaven.
